Laird Smithson serves as Chief Operating Officer of Nobis Rehabilitation Partners’ Rehabilitation Management Services division where he leads the development and growth of Nobis’ hospital-based rehabilitation services platform.
​
Laird brings more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience across hospital partnerships, post-acute care, and national healthcare organizations. He has extensive experience building and scaling hospital-based rehabilitation services, leading large multi-site healthcare operations, and developing strategic partnerships with health systems across the country.
​
Prior to joining Nobis, Laird served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Hospital Rehabilitation Services at Kindred Healthcare, where he led a national rehabilitation services platform operating across more than 270 hospital-based programs. In that role, he oversaw operational performance, hospital client relationships, and the successful integration and growth of hospital-based rehabilitation partnerships nationwide.

Earlier in his career, Laird held leadership roles at DaVita Kidney Care, Gentiva Health Services, OptumInsight (UnitedHealth Group), and AIM Healthcare, where he focused on healthcare strategy, financial performance, and operational improvement initiatives.

Laird holds a Master of Business Administration from Belmont University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Georgia.
